About Me
My name is Bruce Zhou, Founder and Managing Director of JOTA Machinery. I have worked in the converting machinery industry since graduating from university in 2002. My career began in international sales, where direct contact with customers gave me practical experience in converting applications, production requirements, and overseas markets. In 2005, I joined a slitting machinery manufacturer as Manager of the Overseas Department, where I further developed my experience in international machinery projects.
In 2008, I founded JOTA Machinery, initially operating as a trading company focused on converting machinery. In 2011, we established our own manufacturing facility, marking JOTA’s transition from trading to machinery manufacturing. This gave us greater control over engineering, assembly, and testing, while expanding our capabilities in slitter rewinders, roll-to-sheet cutters, core cutting machines, and flexographic printing equipment.
In 2011, recognizing growing international demand for thermal paper, we began developing thermal paper slitting and rewinding lines. This became an important application area for JOTA and led to the continued development of higher-speed and more automated thermal paper converting systems.
In 2015, I relocated JOTA’s manufacturing operations to Kunshan, Jiangsu, providing closer access to the Yangtze River Delta’s machining, components, and industrial supply chain.
In 2017, we launched the SLT-900C, our first high-speed thermal paper slitting and rewinding machine. The machine was exported to the Middle East and marked an important step in JOTA’s development of higher-speed thermal paper converting systems. In the years that followed, we continued to develop the platform toward greater automation and more integrated production.
- 2019 — Launched our first fully automatic thermal paper slitting and rewinding line.
- 2020 — Worked with APP (Asia Pulp & Paper) on the development and acceptance testing of a fully automatic thermal paper roll slitting and rewinding line.
- 2022 — Developed a fully automatic water-activated tape (WAT) production line, with systems delivered to customers in India and Germany.
- 2024 — Developed a WAT converting line integrating inline printing and packaging, with a system delivered to Eastern Europe.
- 2025 — Expanded our thermal paper converting platform with integrated automation for slitting, wrapping, labeling, cartoning, and palletizing.
Throughout my journey, I have upheld a belief that has guided every decision:

My focus is to keep strengthening JOTA’s engineering, manufacturing, and automation capabilities in roll-to-roll and roll-to-sheet converting. As customer requirements evolve, we continue to develop equipment with higher productivity, more consistent process control, and greater levels of automation.
I value direct communication with customers because many of our engineering improvements begin with real production challenges. Understanding the material, the converting process, and the operator’s requirements helps us develop more practical machinery solutions.
Looking ahead, I will continue to focus JOTA on practical engineering, reliable manufacturing, and long-term technical support for customers worldwide.
