Germany-based sustainability software company osapiens and recycling services provider GreenDot have launched a new partnership to help companies manage packaging data and reporting under Europe’s evolving Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) rules.
The AI-powered solution is designed to support compliance with the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
Addressing PPWR Data Challenges
The PPWR introduces stricter rules to reduce packaging waste, improve recyclability and require all packaging placed on the EU market to be designed for recyclability by 2030.
For companies operating across Europe, compliance is complex because:
- each country has its own reporting system
- packaging data is often held by suppliers
- EPR fees vary across markets
- material, weight and recyclability data must be accurate
AI-Powered Reporting Support
The new solution combines GreenDot’s EPR expertise with the osapiens HUB platform.
It is designed to:
- collect packaging material data
- track weight and recyclability information
- calculate EPR obligations by country
- optimize tariff structures
- connect with national registration systems
- support country-specific PPWR reporting
Industry Insight
EPR compliance is becoming a major operational challenge for producers and brand owners across Europe.
As PPWR implementation advances, packaging compliance is no longer just a legal issue. It is becoming a data management challenge requiring automation, transparency and accurate supplier information.
