DONGGUAN, China — Amcor has broken ground on an expansion of its flexible packaging manufacturing facility in Dongguan, China, investing in advanced manufacturing technologies and recycle-ready packaging production to support growing demand across the Asia-Pacific region.
The project will expand the company’s manufacturing footprint while strengthening production capacity, automation and supply chain resilience in one of South China’s key industrial centers.
Expansion Adds Manufacturing and Warehouse Capacity
The project includes the construction of a 22,965-square-foot manufacturing facility and automated warehouse, increasing Amcor’s Dongguan campus to more than 124,000 square feet.
Construction is scheduled for completion by July 2027.
According to the company, the expansion will enhance manufacturing efficiency while providing additional capacity to meet growing customer demand for flexible packaging solutions.
Investment Targets Sustainable Manufacturing
The upgraded facility is designed around intelligent manufacturing and sustainability principles.
New equipment will include:
- Automated solvent-free laminators
- High-speed bag-making machines
- Automated bag-arranging systems
Amcor said the new technologies will improve production efficiency while supporting the manufacture of recycle-ready flexible packaging for food, home care and personal care applications.
The investment also aligns with the company’s broader strategy to expand sustainable packaging solutions that help customers meet evolving environmental regulations and circular economy goals.
Strengthening Operations in China
Amcor has operated in China for more than 30 years and currently operates 23 manufacturing facilities and two research and development centers across the country.
The Dongguan expansion further strengthens the company’s manufacturing network in China, enabling it to better serve customers throughout the Asia-Pacific market.
Supporting Long-Term Packaging Growth
The investment reflects continued demand for advanced flexible packaging as consumer goods manufacturers seek higher production efficiency, improved supply chain resilience and more sustainable packaging formats.
By expanding intelligent manufacturing capabilities and recycle-ready packaging technologies, Amcor aims to support customers as sustainability requirements and packaging performance expectations continue to evolve.
