Cascades tissue converting line

Canadian packaging and tissue producer Cascades has announced a CAD 15 million investment in a new tissue converting line at its Granby, Quebec facility, aiming to increase production capacity and improve product quality.

The installation of the next-generation converting equipment will take place over a nine-month period, with commercial production expected to begin during the fourth quarter of 2026.

Expanding Capacity to Meet Retail Demand

According to Cascades, the investment is designed to address sustained demand from retail customers, particularly in the toilet paper segment.

The new converting line will:

  • Add capacity for approximately 3 million cases annually
  • Increase production efficiency
  • Improve product quality
  • Support growing demand for regular and multi-pack toilet paper formats
  • Strengthen customer service capabilities

The company said the Granby facility’s strategic location will help improve responsiveness to customer requirements across its market footprint.

Supporting Long-Term Growth Strategy

Hugues Simon, President and CEO of Cascades, said the project aligns with the company’s broader growth objectives.

The investment forms part of Cascades’ strategy to expand production capabilities while maintaining flexibility in responding to changing market conditions and consumer demand.

Focus on Sustainable Tissue Production

Cascades continues to position itself as a supplier of tissue products with a reduced environmental footprint.

The company has been recognized among the world’s top 100 most sustainable corporations for seven consecutive years in the Global 100 ranking published by Corporate Knights.

Founded in 1964, Cascades operates approximately 60 facilities across North America and employs nearly 9,000 people. The company manufactures packaging, tissue, recycling and recovery solutions serving a broad range of consumer and industrial markets.

Industry Outlook

The investment reflects ongoing demand growth within the North American tissue sector, where manufacturers continue investing in converting capacity to support retail, hygiene and consumer product markets.

As consumer demand remains stable and retailers seek reliable supply partners, tissue producers are increasingly focusing on automation, efficiency improvements and product quality enhancements to strengthen competitiveness.
