Guanhao High-Tech H1 2026 Results

Chinese specialty paper producer Guanhao High-Tech Co., Ltd. (600433) returned to profitability in the first half of 2026, supported by higher sales volumes, cost reductions and improved performance across its specialty paper and specialty materials businesses.

The company reported operating revenue of RMB 3.64 billion ($510 million) for the first six months of the year, an increase of 6.9% year on year.

Net profit attributable to shareholders reached RMB 213 million, reversing a loss of RMB 57.93 million in the first half of 2025.

However, profit excluding non-recurring gains was considerably lower at RMB 31.61 million, compared with a loss of RMB 59.46 million a year earlier.

The difference is significant when assessing the underlying improvement in the company’s operations, as non-recurring items contributed substantially to reported first-half earnings.

Specialty Paper Sales Support Revenue Growth

Guanhao High-Tech said higher sales volumes and revenue helped improve gross profit during the first half.

Both its specialty paper and specialty materials businesses recorded growth.

Within the paper business, demand from logistics, pharmaceutical and food applications supported sales of self-adhesive label materials and thermal paper.

These markets represent important downstream applications for specialty papers because they depend on functional characteristics beyond those required from conventional printing and writing grades.

Thermal paper is widely used for labels, receipts and other variable-information applications, while self-adhesive materials serve logistics labels, pharmaceutical identification, food labeling and broader packaging applications.

The company said it plans to continue targeting mid- and high-end niche markets rather than relying solely on higher production volumes.

H1 Net Profit Reaches RMB 213 Million

The improvement in first-half profitability was substantial compared with the same period of 2025.

Guanhao High-Tech reported:

  • Revenue: RMB 3.64 billion, up 6.9%
  • Net profit attributable to shareholders: RMB 213 million
  • Adjusted net profit excluding non-recurring items: RMB 31.61 million
  • Fully diluted EPS: RMB 0.1215
  • Operating cash flow: negative RMB 43.44 million

Operating cash flow remained negative but improved by 95.3% year on year.

The company’s reported profit also benefited from factors outside normal recurring operations.

Guanhao High-Tech cited the shutdown of production lines at the Qianshan plant of controlled subsidiary Hongta Renheng, together with increased income from land disposals, among the contributors to first-half earnings.

This helps explain the difference between the RMB 213 million attributable net profit and RMB 31.61 million profit excluding non-recurring items.

Q2 Operations Also Returned to Profit

The company’s second-quarter figures show that the improvement was not limited to first-quarter non-recurring gains.

Revenue for the April-June period reached RMB 1.92 billion, up 3.7% year on year.

Net profit attributable to shareholders was RMB 32.65 million, compared with a loss of RMB 58.57 million in the second quarter of 2025.

More importantly for assessing operating performance, second-quarter profit excluding non-recurring items reached RMB 31.28 million, reversing a RMB 59.59 million adjusted loss a year earlier.

Second-quarter earnings per share were RMB 0.0187.

The relatively small difference between reported and adjusted Q2 profit indicates that the quarter’s earnings were much less dependent on non-recurring items than the first-half headline figure.

Cost Reduction and Efficiency Measures Lift Gross Profit

Alongside stronger sales, Guanhao High-Tech credited continued cost reduction and operating efficiency measures with improving profitability.

For specialty paper manufacturers, profitability depends not only on selling prices and production volumes but also on pulp and chemical costs, energy consumption, machine utilization and product mix.

Guanhao High-Tech said these internal measures, combined with higher revenue and sales volumes, helped increase gross profit compared with the previous year.

The company intends to continue improving its cost position while focusing on products serving higher-value market segments.

Thermal Paper and Label Demand Provide Growth

One of the more notable operating trends during the period was increased demand for label-related products.

Growth in logistics, pharmaceutical and food labeling supported sales of thermal paper and self-adhesive label stock.

These applications form part of a broader specialty paper market in which performance requirements can include printability, thermal sensitivity, adhesive compatibility, surface quality and reliable converting performance.

Logistics remains an especially important market for variable-information labels because parcel distribution and inventory systems depend heavily on machine-readable and rapidly printed identification.

Food and pharmaceutical applications create additional demand where accurate product identification and traceability are important.

For Guanhao High-Tech, these end markets provide opportunities to develop its specialty paper portfolio beyond conventional commodity paper applications.

Assets Decline While Shareholders’ Equity Increases

At the end of June 2026, Guanhao High-Tech reported total assets of RMB 11.38 billion, down 2.2% from the end of 2025.

Net assets attributable to shareholders increased 5.0% to RMB 4.45 billion.

The balance-sheet movement comes as the company continues to adjust its operations and pursue efficiency improvements across its production base.

Paper Prices Remain Under Pressure

Despite the improved results, management remains cautious about market conditions.

Guanhao High-Tech said the domestic and international business environment remains complex and that the paper industry continues to face downward pressure on prices.

Overall operating conditions have improved, according to the company, but pricing remains an important challenge.

This is particularly relevant for specialty paper producers because stronger demand does not necessarily translate directly into higher margins when market prices remain competitive and raw-material costs fluctuate.

Maintaining profitability therefore depends increasingly on product mix, production efficiency and the ability to serve specialized applications where technical requirements provide greater differentiation.

Guanhao Targets Mid- and High-End Specialty Markets

Looking ahead, Guanhao High-Tech said it will continue concentrating on mid- to high-end niche markets, while using technology development and cost efficiency to strengthen its competitive position.

For the specialty paper business, the first-half results show a clearer recovery from the losses reported a year earlier.

The Q2 figures are particularly relevant: adjusted profit improved from a RMB 59.59 million loss to RMB 31.28 million profit, indicating an improvement in recurring operations during the quarter.

At the same time, the large gap between first-half reported profit of RMB 213 million and adjusted profit of RMB 31.61 million means the headline earnings recovery should be interpreted carefully.

For the remainder of 2026, the key indicators will be whether Guanhao High-Tech can maintain growth in thermal paper and self-adhesive materials, preserve its cost improvements and sustain recurring profitability despite continued pricing pressure across the paper market.
