Croatian beverage producer Jamnica Plus has invested €3 million during the first half of 2026 to strengthen its logistics network and expand its reusable packaging system, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to operational efficiency and circular packaging.
The investment includes €1.4 million for distribution and warehousing modernization and €1.6 million dedicated to expanding returnable packaging through the purchase of reusable glass bottles and transport crates.
Investment Supports Circular Packaging Strategy
According to the company, the latest investment builds on previous efforts to improve supply chain performance while increasing the use of returnable packaging.
Last year, Jamnica Plus focused on expanding its logistics fleet through the acquisition of 23 new distribution vehicles. In 2026, the company has shifted greater emphasis toward reusable packaging as part of its circular economy strategy.
The initiative reflects a broader trend across the food and beverage industry, where manufacturers are investing in packaging systems designed to extend packaging life cycles, reduce material consumption and improve resource efficiency.
Logistics Modernization Improves Supply Chain Efficiency
The logistics investment includes new trucks for secondary transportation, next-generation electric forklifts equipped with air-conditioned cabins, order-picking equipment and mobile information and communication devices.
According to Jamnica Plus, the new equipment is expected to improve warehouse productivity, optimize product flows, enhance customer service and provide improved working conditions for employees.
Supply chain efficiency has become an increasingly important investment area for beverage manufacturers as companies seek to strengthen operational resilience while managing rising transportation and labor costs.
Reusable Packaging Continues to Gain Momentum
Returnable glass packaging remains an important component of circular packaging systems in many European beverage markets.
Unlike single-use packaging, reusable bottles can be collected, cleaned and refilled multiple times before recycling, helping reduce packaging waste and demand for virgin raw materials.
As sustainability regulations continue to evolve across Europe, beverage producers are increasingly evaluating reusable packaging alongside recyclable and recycled-content packaging to support circular economy objectives.
Long-Term Competitiveness Through Sustainable Investment
Ivan Kozina, Supply Chain Director for Jamnica Plus and Fortenova Group’s beverage division, said the investments are intended to strengthen the company’s long-term competitiveness by improving logistics efficiency, supply reliability and business sustainability.
The company noted that reusable packaging has formed part of its operations for decades and remains an important element of its environmental strategy.
Beverage Sector Continues Packaging Transition
The announcement comes as beverage manufacturers across Europe continue investing in logistics automation, returnable packaging systems and circular packaging solutions in response to changing consumer expectations and regulatory developments.
In addition to improving environmental performance, companies are increasingly seeking packaging solutions that enhance operational efficiency while supporting long-term resource management goals.
Separately, Fortenova Group announced last month that it had signed an exclusivity agreement to negotiate the potential sale of companies within its beverage division, including Jamnica Plus, to Croatian spirits producer Badel 1862.
