Metsä Board Husum mill VP

Metsä Board has appointed Malin Nygren as Vice President of its Husum Pulp and Board Mill, effective 1 July 2026, strengthening leadership continuity at one of the company’s key integrated production sites in Sweden.

Nygren has been serving as interim Vice President since March 2026 and will now assume the role on a permanent basis.

Leadership Continuity at Key Integrated Mill

The permanent appointment follows an interim period initiated after Olov Winblad von Walter transitioned to the role of Vice President, Operations Transformation within Metsä Board.

The company acknowledged Winblad von Walter’s contribution during the interim period, noting his role in supporting operational stability and transition planning at the Husum site.

In her new role, Nygren will report to Laura Remes, Senior Vice President, Production and Supply Chain, and will join Metsä Board’s Operations Leadership Team.

Husum Mill Remains Strategic Production Asset

The Husum mill is one of Metsä Board’s key integrated pulp and board production facilities, combining pulp manufacturing with the production of folding boxboard and kraftliner grades.

The site plays an important role in supplying lightweight and high-quality fibre-based packaging materials to global markets, particularly for foodservice, retail packaging and industrial applications.

Focus on Production Efficiency and Supply Chain Performance

Leadership appointments at integrated pulp and board mills are increasingly linked to operational efficiency, supply chain optimization and product quality consistency as packaging markets continue to evolve.

Metsä Board has been investing in improving production efficiency and strengthening its position in lightweight, renewable packaging materials that support circular economy objectives and substitution away from fossil-based packaging materials.

Nordic Board Industry Continues Structural Optimization

Across the Nordic forest products sector, companies are focusing on mill modernization, leadership development and supply chain integration to improve competitiveness in global packaging markets.

Facilities such as Husum remain central to this strategy due to their integrated pulp and board capabilities, which support both cost efficiency and product quality differentiation.

The appointment of Nygren reflects continued emphasis on internal leadership development and operational continuity within Metsä Board’s production network.
