Michelman Ron Voigt appointment

Michelman has appointed Ron Voigt, CEO of Hyperion Materials & Technologies, to its Board of Directors as the advanced materials company continues to expand its international operations and applications.

Voigt brings experience in materials science, industrial manufacturing, commercial strategy and organizational development, having held senior positions across several global business-to-business companies.

Michelman said his background in managing growth and organizational change aligns with the company’s priorities as it develops its coatings, printing and packaging, fibers and composites businesses.

Voigt Has Led Hyperion Since 2018

Voigt has served as CEO of Hyperion Materials & Technologies since 2018.

Hyperion specializes in advanced hard and super-hard materials used across industrial applications.

During his tenure, Voigt has overseen growth through investments in operations, technology development and acquisitions, while also focusing on employee engagement.

Before joining Hyperion, he served as president of X-Rite Pantone and commercial president of Tektronix.

He was also president of Industrial Automation at Kollmorgen.

Earlier in his career, Voigt held several positions at Delphi Automotive Systems and General Motors Corporation. His roles included divisional vice president and business unit director for Delphi Steering’s steering business unit.

Michelman Looks to Support International Expansion

Michelman Executive Chairman Steve Shifman said Voigt’s experience building international industrial businesses would bring additional perspective to the board.

“Ron has spent his career building global industrial businesses and helping teams turn strategy into measurable results,” Shifman said.

He added that Voigt’s experience with growth and organizational change could support Michelman as it expands into additional markets and applications.

Voigt said Michelman’s combination of engineered solutions, international operations and its stated commitment to “People, Planet, and Profit” contributed to his decision to join the board.

“I have been impressed by the candor of the Board and leadership team and their willingness to look directly at where performance can improve and then act on it,” he said.

Michelman Serves Packaging, Coatings and Composites Markets

Michelman develops and manufactures advanced materials for several industrial markets, including coatings, printing and packaging, fibers and composites.

Its portfolio includes surface additives and polymeric binders used to modify material and surface properties in industrial applications.

Applications span printing inks, industrial coatings, paints and varnishes, wood and floor care products, fibers and composite materials.

Within packaging, coatings and additives can play an important role in delivering properties such as surface performance, printability and other functional characteristics required by specific applications.

The appointment adds an executive with direct materials science and industrial manufacturing experience to Michelman’s board as the company continues to develop its international business and engineered-material portfolio.
