Nelipak sustainability report 2025

CRANSTON, R.I. — Healthcare packaging solutions provider Nelipak Corporation has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, highlighting progress in emissions reduction, renewable energy adoption, waste management and the development of more sustainable healthcare packaging solutions.

The report reflects the company’s sustainability vision to “help healthcare be sustainable” by supporting customers with improved packaging solutions while reducing environmental impacts across its operations and supply chain.

Major Emissions Reduction Achieved

According to Nelipak, the company achieved a 63% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions compared with its 2019 baseline.

The company has also increased its use of renewable energy, with:

  • 45% of total energy sourced from renewable resources
  • Renewable electricity expanded across 8 of 11 production sites

Nelipak said these measures are part of its ongoing effort to reduce operational carbon emissions and strengthen sustainability performance across its global manufacturing network.

Expanding Circular Healthcare Packaging Solutions

Nelipak continued to expand its Ecovate™ sustainable packaging portfolio in 2025, introducing additional mono-material packaging solutions incorporating recycled and renewable content.

The company said these developments are designed to support circular packaging models while maintaining the performance requirements of healthcare applications.

Nelipak has also obtained third-party recyclability certifications for selected products, helping customers improve sustainability credentials through verified packaging solutions.

Improving Waste Management and Recycling

The company reported achieving a 74% waste recycling rate across its operations.

In addition, Nelipak has started directing certain waste streams toward chemical recycling initiatives, supporting efforts to recover value from materials that may be difficult to recycle through traditional methods.

Strengthening Sustainable Supply Chains

Nelipak expanded its supply chain sustainability efforts by extending ISCC PLUS certification to its facility in Clara, Ireland.

The certification supports the introduction of healthcare packaging solutions with improved supply chain transparency and verified sourcing information.

ESG Reporting and Future Focus

The company also completed several external sustainability assessments, including:

  • Fourth EcoVadis submission
  • Second CDP submission
  • Third Scope 3 emissions assessment

Nic Hunt, Global Head of Sustainability at Nelipak, said the company’s strategy focuses on delivering measurable value through collaboration with supply chain partners, sustainable product development, emissions reduction and workforce development.

CEO Pat Chambliss added that the achievements demonstrate Nelipak’s commitment to supporting healthcare customers with more sustainable packaging solutions.
