Raghav Paper Mills has commissioned a new 70-tonne-per-day paper machine at its manufacturing facility in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, expanding into lightweight specialty grades for packaging, printing, hygiene and other converting applications.
The new machine will produce MG poster paper, tissue paper, coloured paper and lightweight MG kraft paper across a basis-weight range of 18–60 g/m².
The company has invested approximately Rs. 75 crore in establishing the manufacturing facility at Tehsil Dhaulana in Hapur.
First Paper Reel Successfully Produced
The commissioning marks the beginning of commercial production for Raghav Paper Mills, with the company confirming that the first paper reel has been successfully produced.
Arvind Kumar Gupta, managing director of Raghav Paper Mills, said the milestone represents the company’s entry into paper manufacturing and follows work by its technical and operational teams to bring the new production line online.
“Today, we have commissioned a state-of-the-art machine of 70 TPD dedicated to producing MG Poster, Tissue, colour and light GSM MG Kraft paper in the range of 18 to 60 GSM,” Gupta said.
At its stated capacity, the machine represents approximately 25,550 tonnes of theoretical annual output if operated at 70 tonnes per day for 365 days, although the company has not disclosed its planned annual operating rate or expected production volumes by grade.
Machine and Pulp Equipment Supplied by Indian Manufacturers
Raghav Paper Mills said the production line was manufactured entirely in India.
Hardayal Engineering Works supplied the paper machine sections, while Parason Machinery supplied the pulp-processing equipment.
The boiler and turbine installation was supplied by Industrial Boiler Limited (IBL) of Vapi, Gujarat.
The project therefore brings together domestic equipment suppliers across the paper machine, stock preparation and energy systems.
The company has not disclosed the machine’s width, design speed, raw-material furnish or detailed production configuration.
Lightweight MG Kraft Targets Packaging Applications
One of the notable parts of the new product portfolio is lightweight MG kraft paper.
MG, or machine-glazed, paper is produced with a smooth, glazed surface on one side, providing characteristics suited to a range of wrapping, packaging and converting applications.
Raghav Paper Mills is positioning its lightweight grades for markets where converters are seeking to balance paper consumption with the strength and functional properties required by the final application.
The broader 18–60 g/m² production range also gives the mill flexibility to serve several specialty-paper segments rather than relying on a single grade.
Its planned portfolio extends from tissue and lightweight papers through MG poster and kraft grades, potentially serving customers across food packaging, retail, wrapping, printing and hygiene applications.
India Adds More Specialty Paper Capacity
The investment comes as Indian paper producers continue to diversify toward application-specific and value-added grades alongside conventional printing, writing and packaging papers.
Demand from food service, retail and packaging applications is creating opportunities for lighter paper grades, while converters increasingly require papers engineered for specific printing, wrapping and downstream converting processes.
For Raghav Paper Mills, the immediate priority will now move from commissioning to stabilizing production and establishing consistent output across its planned grade range.
The company has not disclosed expected capacity utilization, individual grade volumes or its targeted customer mix.
The commissioning nevertheless adds 70 TPD of new specialty and lightweight paper capacity to India’s paper industry and establishes Raghav Paper Mills as a new producer serving these markets.
