Swedish forest products company SCA has announced a €100 per tonne price increase for all Kraftliner grades sold in Europe, with the new pricing taking effect on September 1, 2026.
The adjustment marks the company’s second Kraftliner price increase this year, following an earlier increase implemented on April 1, 2026.
Second Kraftliner Price Increase in 2026
According to SCA, the latest increase applies to its full range of Kraftliner products across the European market.
While the company did not provide detailed reasons for the adjustment, containerboard producers have continued to face changing market conditions, including fluctuations in fibre costs, energy prices, logistics expenses and overall supply-demand dynamics.
Price adjustments remain a common mechanism for paper manufacturers to respond to changes in production costs and market conditions.
Kraftliner Plays a Key Role in Corrugated Packaging
Kraftliner is widely used as the outer liner in corrugated board, providing the strength, durability and printability required for transport packaging, e-commerce boxes and industrial shipping cartons.
As demand for fibre-based packaging continues to evolve, pricing movements in Kraftliner are closely monitored by:
- Corrugated box manufacturers
- Packaging converters
- Sheet plants
- Brand owners
- Packaging distributors
Changes in containerboard prices can influence packaging production costs throughout the paper packaging supply chain, particularly for businesses with significant corrugated packaging requirements.
Packaging Market Continues to Monitor Cost Developments
SCA’s latest announcement follows its previous European Kraftliner price increase introduced in April, indicating continued pricing adjustments within the containerboard sector during 2026.
For packaging converters and corrugated box producers, successive price increases may influence procurement strategies, inventory planning and contract negotiations in the coming months.
SCA, headquartered in Sundsvall, Sweden, is one of Europe’s major forest industry companies, supplying packaging paper, market pulp, wood products, renewable energy, forest services and transport solutions.
As market conditions continue to develop, further pricing movements across the containerboard sector will remain an important indicator for the European paper and packaging industry.
