BEIJING — Solo Soft White Tissues of Egypt has signed an agreement with Shandong Hicredit Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. to purchase two high-speed tissue paper production lines, expanding Egypt’s domestic tissue manufacturing capacity and strengthening industrial cooperation between China and Egypt.
The agreement was signed at the China National Convention Center in Beijing.
New Investment Expands Egypt’s Tissue Capacity
Under the agreement, Hicredit Heavy Machinery will provide complete engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for two intelligent, energy-efficient tissue production lines with a combined annual capacity of 56,000 tonnes.
Once the project is fully operational, Solo Soft White Tissues’ total annual production capacity is expected to account for approximately 31% of Egypt’s tissue production capacity, with projected annual sales of US$168 million.
The investment is expected to strengthen Egypt’s domestic tissue supply while reducing reliance on imported finished tissue products.
Second Collaboration Between the Companies
The project marks the second partnership between Solo Soft White Tissues and Hicredit Heavy Machinery.
In 2023, Hicredit supplied the company with its first intelligent tissue paper production line, introducing lightweight-basis-weight tissue production technology to the Egyptian market.
Building on that experience, Solo Soft White Tissues selected Hicredit again to support its latest expansion.
Supporting Local Manufacturing and Employment
According to the companies, the new project aims to achieve 100% localized tissue production while supporting the development of related industries, including logistics, equipment maintenance and technical services.
The investment is also expected to create skilled employment opportunities and enhance Egypt’s export competitiveness in tissue products.
China-Egypt Industrial Cooperation Continues
The project aligns with broader industrial cooperation under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Egypt Vision 2030, which promote manufacturing modernization, technology transfer and sustainable industrial development.
Shandong Hicredit Heavy Machinery said it has exported more than 150 papermaking production lines to customers across more than 30 countries and regions, supporting paper industry modernization through intelligent manufacturing and energy-efficient technologies.
Representatives from the China-Africa Business Council, the China Paper Association, the China National Association of Light Industry Machinery, and executives from both companies attended the signing ceremony.
