Sonoco Products Company will increase prices for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) in the United States and Canada.
The company said the increase will be $60 per ton, effective for shipments beginning July 8, 2026.
Converted Paperboard Products Also Affected
Sonoco will also raise prices for converted paperboard products by 7%, effective with shipments on and after the same date.
Affected products include:
- paperboard tubes
- cores
- cones
- partitions
- protective packaging
- specialty paperboard products
Demand and Cost Pressures Drive Increase
Taylor Lane, Vice President and General Manager of Industrial Paper Packaging, North America, said the price increase is being driven by strong demand, high utilization across Sonoco’s paper mill network and elevated inflationary pressure.
The company said the adjustment is necessary to support reliable supply and maintain product quality for customers.
Industry Context
The announcement reflects ongoing cost pressure across the North American paper packaging sector. Strong mill utilization, inflation, energy costs and operating expenses continue to influence pricing for recycled paperboard and converted packaging products.
For customers, the increase may affect costs across industrial packaging, protective packaging and paperboard-based converting applications.
