Sustainable Corrugated & Containerboard

Jackson Paper Manufacturing and Sustainable Corrugated have officially unified under a new identity, Sustainable Corrugated & Containerboard (SCC).

The rebranding brings together Jackson Paper’s recycled containerboard mill in Sylva, North Carolina, with Sustainable Corrugated’s sheet-feeding facilities in Morganton, North Carolina, and Dalton, Georgia, under a single brand.

Building a Fully Integrated Packaging Platform

Although the businesses have operated under common ownership and leadership for years, the new SCC identity reflects their position as a fully integrated paper and packaging manufacturer.

The company combines recycled containerboard production with corrugated sheet manufacturing, serving packaging customers across the Southeastern United States while supplying containerboard throughout North America.

According to company leadership, the unified brand better represents the operational integration already in place across the business.

Focus on Sustainable Packaging

SCC highlighted several sustainability initiatives that remain central to its operations, including:

  • Production of 100% recycled corrugating medium
  • Closed-loop cooling systems with zero wastewater discharge
  • Wood-fired boiler and steam turbine operations
  • FSC® and SFI® certified manufacturing
  • Capability to produce 100% recycled corrugated sheets

The company positions these capabilities as part of growing customer demand for environmentally responsible packaging solutions.

Operations Remain Unchanged

SCC stated that customers will experience no disruption from the rebrand.

Key areas remaining unchanged include:

  • Customer relationships
  • Ordering processes
  • Product quality standards
  • Day-to-day operations
  • Service and support teams

Company executives emphasized that the transition is primarily a branding and market-positioning initiative designed to reflect the business’s vertically integrated structure.

Industry Outlook

The move reflects a broader trend across the packaging sector, where manufacturers are increasingly leveraging vertical integration to improve supply chain control, sustainability performance, and customer responsiveness.

As demand for recycled fiber packaging continues to grow, integrated producers with containerboard and converting capabilities are strengthening their competitive position through operational alignment and sustainable manufacturing strategies.
