Suzano pulp operations leadership

SÃO PAULO, Brazil — Suzano has announced a leadership transition in its executive team, with Aires Galhardo, Executive Vice President of Pulp Industrial Operations, Engineering and Energy, set to leave the company on August 28, 2026 after more than two decades of service.

The world’s largest hardwood pulp producer said Carlos Aníbal Fernandes de Almeida Júnior will assume responsibility for the division while continuing to oversee Procurement, Certification Strategy and Futuragene, Suzano’s biotechnology subsidiary focused on eucalyptus genetics and sustainability research.

Veteran Executive Takes on Expanded Role

Fernandes de Almeida Júnior has worked at Suzano for more than 23 years and has held leadership positions across several of the company’s core businesses.

During his tenure, he has led:

  • The Pulp Business Unit
  • The Paper Business Unit
  • The Forestry Division

The expanded appointment places responsibility for Suzano’s pulp industrial operations, engineering and energy activities under an executive with extensive operational and commercial experience across the company’s value chain.

Board Recognizes Galhardo’s Contributions

Suzano’s Board of Directors thanked Galhardo for more than 21 years of service, recognizing his contributions across multiple strategic areas of the business.

The company did not disclose the reason for the leadership change.

Leadership Continuity at World’s Largest Hardwood Pulp Producer

The appointment comes as Suzano continues operating one of the world’s largest pulp production platforms.

The Brazilian company operates eight pulp mills with a combined annual production capacity of approximately 13.5 million tonnes of hardwood pulp. In addition to pulp, Suzano manufactures paper and tissue products and continues investing in forestry biotechnology through Futuragene to improve eucalyptus productivity and sustainability.

The executive transition is expected to provide continuity in Suzano’s industrial operations while maintaining oversight of key procurement, certification and research activities under a single leadership structure.
