Valmet has appointed Pia Aaltonen-Forsell as chief financial officer and a member of the company’s executive leadership team, with her appointment set to take effect by the end of January 2027.

Aaltonen-Forsell will report directly to Thomas Hinnerskov, president and CEO of Valmet, and will succeed Katri Hokkanen, who is leaving the CFO position.

The appointment brings an experienced finance executive into Valmet’s leadership as the company continues to focus on financial performance, cost competitiveness and long-term value creation.

More Than 30 Years of Finance Experience

Aaltonen-Forsell has more than three decades of experience across accounting and corporate finance, including senior financial leadership positions at several major Nordic industrial companies.

Her previous CFO roles include positions at Vacon, Munksjö and Ahlstrom-Munksjö, Outokumpu, Northvolt and Finnair.

The background gives her experience across industries ranging from materials and manufacturing to battery production and aviation.

Most recently, she served as CFO of Finnair.

Aaltonen-Forsell Joins Valmet Executive Leadership Team

As Valmet’s new CFO, Aaltonen-Forsell will become part of the company’s executive leadership team and take responsibility for its financial organization.

Hinnerskov said her experience managing complex international organizations will support Valmet’s financial and operational priorities.

He added that her leadership would be important in supporting financial performance, cost competitiveness and long-term value creation.

Aaltonen-Forsell’s appointment also completes an important transition in Valmet’s financial leadership following the previously announced departure of Hokkanen.

She is expected to assume the CFO position by the end of January 2027.
