Xuong Giang Paper has successfully commissioned its new TM16 tissue production line at its mill in Bac Giang Province, Vietnam, supported by a complete stock preparation system supplied by ANDRITZ.
The project expands Xuong Giang Paper’s tissue manufacturing capabilities and represents another development in the company’s long-standing cooperation with ANDRITZ.
The two companies previously worked together on two other tissue production lines that have already been successfully started up.
ANDRITZ Supplies Complete Stock Preparation System
For the TM16 project, ANDRITZ supplied the complete stock preparation process covering operations from pulping through refining.
The scope includes three main systems:
- An LBKP high-consistency refining line for bleached hardwood kraft pulp
- An NBKP low-consistency refining line for bleached softwood kraft pulp
- A tissue trimmings line
At the center of the stock preparation system is ANDRITZ’s PrimeRefine HC T high-consistency refining technology, which has been developed specifically for tissue applications.
According to ANDRITZ, the technology is designed to improve short-fiber development while supporting tissue softness and strength.
The refining system is also intended to optimize fibre utilization and maintain consistent pulp quality while improving production efficiency.
Refining Plays Important Role in Tissue Properties
Stock preparation is an important stage in tissue production because the treatment of pulp fibres influences the properties required in the finished sheet.
The TM16 configuration uses different refining approaches for hardwood and softwood pulp.
LBKP provides short fibres that can contribute to properties such as softness and sheet formation, while NBKP contains longer fibres that can contribute to tissue strength.
The separate refining lines allow these fibre types to be treated according to their respective roles before entering the tissue-making process.
The system also processes tissue trimmings, allowing production material generated during manufacturing to be returned to the process.
TM16 Expands Xuong Giang Paper’s Production Capability
Tran Xuan Nam, Director at Xuong Giang Paper, described the successful startup as an important step in the company’s longer-term development.
“This investment significantly strengthens our production capacity and enhances our ability to consistently deliver premium-quality tissue products to customers in Vietnam and around the world.”
Nam also highlighted ANDRITZ’s technical support and cooperation during project execution and startup.
The latest investment builds on the previous tissue projects completed between the two companies, giving Xuong Giang Paper further experience with ANDRITZ equipment across its tissue operations.
Targeting Domestic and Export Tissue Markets
Xuong Giang Paper produces products ranging from tissue jumbo rolls to finished tissue products, supplying both Vietnam’s domestic market and international customers.
With TM16 now commissioned, the company expects the additional manufacturing capability to support higher production capacity while improving efficiency and product quality.
The investment also reflects continued development of Vietnam’s tissue manufacturing sector as producers expand capacity and upgrade fibre preparation and tissue-making technology to serve both domestic consumption and export markets.
