Automation Requirements
Required output, printing, automatic roll handling and packaging requirements determine the appropriate automation level.
Choose Your Thermal Paper Slitting Machine
01
Designed for standard roll-to-roll thermal paper converting, this machine slits jumbo rolls into finished POS, receipt and cash-register rolls. It is suitable for new thermal paper converters and factories that need flexible production for different finished-roll sizes.
02
This configuration combines thermal paper slitting and rewinding with inline flexographic printing. It can print logos, promotional information or other required content before the paper is rewound into finished rolls. One-color printing is available as a standard option, while multi-color configurations can be supplied according to the printing requirement.
03
Built for higher-volume thermal paper roll production, this configuration automates more of the converting process to reduce manual handling between production steps. It is suitable for established converters increasing output or building a larger production line, with optional downstream equipment such as packaging and robotic palletizing available for line integration.

How Does a Thermal Paper Slitting Machine Work
A thermal paper slitting machine converts a wide jumbo roll into multiple narrow finished rolls in one continuous process. The web is unwound under controlled tension, guided through the machine, slit to the required widths and rewound into individual POS, receipt or ATM paper rolls.
Stable web tension and alignment are important throughout the process because they affect slit-edge quality, winding consistency and the final roll dimensions. Depending on the machine configuration, printing, automatic core loading, roll cutting and other finishing functions can also be integrated into the production line.

Jumbo Roll Loading
The thermal paper jumbo roll is loaded onto the unwind section. The unwind configuration is selected according to the parent-roll width, diameter, weight and core specification.
Web Guiding
As the paper enters the machine, the web-guiding system helps maintain its lateral position so the material remains aligned with the slitting section.
Tension Control
Web tension is controlled during unwinding, slitting and rewinding. Stable tension is important for maintaining web control and consistent winding as roll diameter changes.
Slitting
The wide thermal paper web passes through the slitting section, where it is divided into narrower lanes according to the required finished-roll widths and slit layout.
Rewinding
After slitting, each narrow web is rewound into the required finished-roll format. Rewind settings are adjusted according to the paper, core, roll diameter or length, and required roll formation.
Roll Finishing
Depending on the machine configuration, finished rolls can proceed through additional processes such as tail cutting and gluing, roll separation, core handling or downstream packaging.
What Thermal Paper Rolls Can You Produce

80mm POS Rolls
Produce common 80 mm thermal receipt rolls in different finished diameters and lengths according to customer requirements.

57 / 58mm POS Rolls
Convert thermal paper jumbo rolls into narrower rolls for compact POS terminals, payment terminals and receipt printers.

Cash Register Rolls
Produce thermal paper rolls in different widths, diameters, lengths and core specifications for cash register and retail applications.

ATM & Kiosk Rolls
Convert jumbo thermal paper into longer finished rolls for ATM, kiosk and other transaction-printing applications.

Coreless Thermal Rolls
Produce thermal paper rolls without conventional paper or plastic cores using a dedicated coreless rewinding configuration.

Printed Thermal Rolls
Add warning lines, branding or other printed information before the web is slit and rewound into finished thermal paper rolls.
Thermal Paper Production Projects

What Should You Confirm Before Buying a Thermal Paper Slitting Machine?
Confirm the jumbo-roll width, finished-roll width, outer diameter or length, and core specification before selecting the machine.
Do not evaluate the machine by maximum running speed alone. Finished-roll size, slit layout, changeovers and automation all affect actual production output.
The number of rolls across the web depends on jumbo-roll width, finished-roll width, edge trim and the required slitting arrangement.
Confirm whether your finished rolls use paper or plastic cores, or whether you need a dedicated coreless production configuration.
If your rolls require warning lines, branding or other printed information, printing requirements should be defined before the production line is configured.
Consider where operators are required for core handling, rewinding, roll finishing and packaging. The appropriate automation level depends on your production target and workflow.
