Three years ago, we developed a water-activated tape slitting machine, which even included an inline flexo printing unit. In 2023, we introduced an entirely new slitter rewinder machine, accompanied by a shrink film packaging machine. However, does this mean we have fully succeeded in this business? The answer is no.
Our General Manager, Bruce, took a step further by establishing a full-scale production line for water-activated kraft paper tape. This innovative idea was inspired by a client from Turkey who aspired to become a manufacturer of water-activated tape, moving beyond merely slitting operations.
We have developed a proprietary weaving machine capable of integrating composite fiberglass reinforcement mesh into kraft paper. This innovative machine weaves textile-grade fiberglass roving into a diamond pattern and seamlessly bonds the fiberglass mesh with kraft paper, ensuring a high-quality and durable product.
This process marks the first step in producing water-activated tape. The next crucial step involves applying a starch-based adhesive to the bottom layer of the kraft paper, transforming it into a fully functional and reliable water-activated paper tape.
